How to choose butt plugs
A butt plug is an anal toy designed to stay in place: a tapered tip, a wider bulb, a narrow neck and a flared base that keeps it from slipping in. That flared base is the one feature every anal toy must have.
Compare the widest diameter (the size that matters most), the insertable length, the neck width (a thin neck is comfier for longer wear) and the base shape. Silicone is body-friendly and slightly flexible; glass and metal are firm, smooth and can be warmed or cooled. Beginner plugs usually start around 1 inch at the widest point.

Butt Plugs FAQ
What is a butt plug for?
Butt plugs provide a feeling of fullness and stimulation of the sensitive nerve endings around the anus. They are worn during solo or partnered sex, and some people use graduated sets to get comfortable with larger sizes over time.
What size butt plug should a beginner get?
Look for a widest diameter of around 1 inch or less, a short insertable length and a flared base. Use plenty of lube and go slowly.
What lube is best for butt plugs?
A thicker water-based or silicone-based lube; the anus does not lubricate itself. Avoid silicone lube with silicone plugs unless the maker says it is compatible.
