How to choose lube
Lube reduces friction and makes sex and toy use more comfortable. There are four main types: water-based (works with every toy and condom, easy to clean, can dry out), silicone-based (long-lasting and waterproof, but can damage silicone toys), hybrid (a mix of both), and oil-based (long-lasting, but breaks down latex condoms).
Compare the base, the ingredients (people with sensitivities often avoid glycerin, parabens and fragrance), the consistency (thicker gels for anal play), and condom and toy compatibility.

Lube FAQ
What is lube?
Personal lubricant is a liquid or gel that reduces friction during sex, masturbation or toy use. It is made with a water, silicone or oil base, or a hybrid.
Does lube expire?
Yes. Most lubes carry an expiration date, often one to three years from manufacture. Discard lube that has passed its date or changed smell, color or texture.
Can you use coconut oil as lube?
Some people do for external use, but coconut oil and other oils weaken latex condoms, and they can raise the risk of irritation or infection for some people. A lube made for sex is the safer choice.
Can you use Vaseline as lube?
It is not recommended: petroleum jelly breaks down latex condoms, is hard to wash off and has been linked to a higher risk of vaginal infections.
Which lube is safe with silicone toys?
Water-based lube. Silicone-based lube can degrade some silicone toys; if you want to use it, test a small hidden area first.
